Elementary Technology

I am considering a topic under the Net Generation and seem to be leaning toward how elementary schools will incorporate technology into their curriculums to maintain the expectation of our digital environment. Everything I am reading is only complicating my brain, instead of helping to pinpoint direction. The RSS feeds I am receiving would not contain any alerts on this topic, so I had to research other potential feeds to find relevant information.

Education Week provides numerous topics from which to choose. I found an interesting topic under the Digital Education feed. http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/DigitalEducation/2010/08/chicago_ipad_grant_winners_inc.html

The blog was about an elementary school in Chicago that as a recipient of a public school grant would be using the Apple iPad with 1st and 2nd graders. They will be implementing the devices into their curriculum by running applications to help the students answer abstract questions, take audio notes, refine their handwriting and create multimedia projects. The previous focus was to bring technology enhancements to middle and upper grades, so there is interest in the success of this initiative. The iPad with its touch screen capabilities could be friendlier toward younger children. Maybe this device sparks interest across educational institutions to invest in technology in early elementary classrooms.

So I wonder, will this help to narrow down my thoughts for my topic?
