The Sculpture of Love and Anguish- Holocaust Memorial: Miami, FL

In searching for a website to review about the Holocaust, I wanted to keep with the idea of visiting a Museum, so I chose The Holocaust Memorials Website located in Miami, Florida. The site stood out for me as soon as I crossed it path. The visual imagery that the site has captured is truly moving.
Upon first opening the site, there was a very easy to use navigation bar, which helped me to begin my search. In looking through the site, I went directly to the site map, where I knew they would provide me some background as to how/ why the site and Memorial were formed. Further to find out that the foundation was formed by six Holocaust survivors, so I knew that in digging even deeper I was bound to find some great information. As expected, there is a ton of info! The site, in looking at why it was created is more or less a way to help drive interested people to the Memorials Site in Miami; however they still have a lot of history about the Holocaust and the survivors.

Take a look at the picture above… I am sure you will agree that it is a very moving sculpture. The Site states "A giant outstretched arm, tattooed with a number from Auschwitz, rises from the earth, the last reach of a dying person."

The imagery on the website is breath taking. The statues are full of pain. Considering who the memorial was created by, the images are a nonverbal communication of the disdain for the Holocaust.
